Hill walking and Mountaineering

Provided by the experts at Nomad Mountaineering, details will be announced shortly!

Trail Running This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in any form of off-road running. It will be a relaxed session enjoying the local trails around Glenmore Forest. Before we head out we will share some tips on kit and what you should carry with you when out on a the trail as well as ideas for route planning. The run will be held at a comfortable pace for the group and will include a warm up and some techniques to help deal with awkward terrain and slippery trails. Equipment: For this workshop we will find a route that suits the weather conditions and aspirations of the group. We will not be aiming for the highest mountain in The Cairngorms! However we will be exploring the network of trails around the Glenmore area. If you bring your normal running kit, along with a small bag containing a waterproof jacket, some water and a snack that should suffice

Hill Running This workshop is designed for those with some trail running experience who are looking to venture into the hills. We will look at route planning, essential equipment to keep you safe in case of an incident, techniques for downhill running, how to pace the hills and lots more along the way. We will choose a route to suit the conditions, but would aim to get up above the tree line to some higher ground. However this will not be a high intensity session and is open to anyone who is a regular runner and will be taken by an experienced trail running guide. Equipment: We will always fnid a route that suits the conditions and aspirations of the group, but with aiming for higher ground there are some kit recommendations. If you bring your normal running kit, along with a small bag containing a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, a spare warm layer like a fleece or midlayer as well as some water and snacks.

Inclusive paddle Sports This will be a half day taster session of either paddle boarding canoeing. If the weather is calm (not windy!) then we will be able to use the paddleboards, if it's a bit windy we'll go for the canoes. This will be based at Loch Morlich just a couple of minutes down the driveway from the accommodation. This will allow you to pick up wetsuits and buoyancy aids at Badaguish and change at the accommodation before heading to the Loch. This is a fun beginners session where we will teach basic paddling skills whilst exploring the Loch and playing games. The activity is inclusive of all abilities and ages from 6 years up. We use adaptive seats and beanbags for those who needs more seated support. What to bring - Swimwear, a wetsuit (if you have your own) water shoes or old trainers (not crocs) a towel, spare clothes, snacks and a drink and any medication you may require.

Open Water Swimming Our welcoming intro to open water swimming workshop is being held by our very own resident expert Sarah from Beyond the Water! Bringing you a 2 hour (approx) workshop covering everything open water. Also... we have managed to secure this at a discount to blue light responders (normally £40 per person) This workshop covers everything from water safety, swimming techniques, reading the environment, what essential equipment to bring with you and a whole host of other tips and tricks that only an experienced professional can bring. Equipment: For this workshop you will need your normal swimming attire, a change of clothes and towel as well as a change of footwear.
